Research interests: spatial intelligence, spatial cognition, curiosity, science education, question generation, exploratory behavior, play, school readiness, early education, at-risk populations.

Jamie Jirout is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Psychology at Temple University, and the Spatial Intelligence and Learning Center (SILC). Her current research explores the development of spatial scaling and proportional reasoning, with a focus on developing interventions to improve spatial skills. She is also interested in using spatial learning tools to enhance science learning. She received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University under the mentorship of Dr. David Klahr, where she studied young children's curiosity, question asking, and exploratory behavior. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Miami, where she worked with Dr. Daryl Greenfield studying the school readiness domain, "Approaches to Learning", and the impact of an early science education program on Head Start children's school readiness.
